Radical Responsibility
There comes a point, when we realise that we are responsible for ourselves — every feeling, word and action. Everything around us is a reflection of what is within us.
Once realised, this is a truth that can not be unlearned and one that I believe marks the final departure from the innocence of our mother's womb and a maturing of spirit that recognises it’s belonging to everything.
When we are children, there is a primal expectation that our parents will meet our every need. As teenagers, we realise that this isn't possible. As young adults, we begin to recognise the ways in which we have been shaped by our upbringing and then somewhere along the way, we come to understand that no matter what we have experienced, we are responsible for it’s resolution.
It is a daunting yet liberating moment to realise that our life's evolution lies solely in our hands, yet it is an essential step in waking up. We are the only ones who can make the choice to heal, the only ones who can grow resilience through courageous action, the only ones who can step into our magnificence.
To move through life blaming others, outsources our power and keeps us stuck. Blame does not validate our pain and validation is the very thing that our pain needs to heal. While I hold a loving hand of acknowledgment to the generational pass-down of trauma that many of us have endured, I also believe that what we endure is never too big for us to hold. Every experience mirrors our capacity to live ...and life wants us to thrive!
Dear One, if inertia surrounds you, if permission has left you, if doubt is clouding your way... start by talking to a trusted friend. Walk in nature. Establish one daily habit of self care. Ask for help. Do whatever you must to begin because waiting for someone else to heal, say sorry or give you permission is like waiting for the ocean to stop moving. You must rise to meet yourself. You must take responsibility for what is yours. You must acknowledge that waiting is not living.
This is your invitation to enter your life.
This is your moment to remember what your Soul knew in the womb — life brims with possibility the moment you take radical responsibility for it.
