Grand Arch

In the grand arch of our lives, we don’t get very much time with our children — childhood seems to move by in a flash.

This is what I gently remind myself of when I feel overwhelmed, exhausted and limited by motherhood, because in remembering I instantly connect with the long line of women who have come before me —
their wisdom running through my veins,
their love ablaze at my center,
their gentle ushering to soften my palm and take seat where I am.

When I remember, I am able to gift my children my loving attention — a gift that heals generational pain and courses wisdom through the generations that follow.

Loving attention is the great gift of maternal love that when received by a child, will flower forever.

Love,
Alanna
